Daily Driver to Serious Off-Roader

Boise Suspension Upgrades Help you get the best performance from your vehicle

Lifting your vehicle and suspension upgrades can give you the ability to go farther on the trail by giving you increased ground clearance, improving your approach and departure angles and keeping those tires on the ground. We look at how you use your vehicle to determine what the best suspension is for you by balancing your ride quality and handling with your off-road needs. Let's get your 4x4 ready for the off-road at Boise 4x4.

Why Lift Your Vehicle?

A lift isn’t just about looks—it’s about performance, capability, and personal style. Many people lift their vehicles to improve articulation, allowing the suspension to flex more on trails for better off-road control. Tire clearance is another big reason, giving you room for larger tires without rubbing, which also improves traction and approach angles.

And yes, aesthetics matter too—lifting your vehicle changes its stance and presence, giving it a more commanding look on the road or trail. The best lifts balance all three, so your vehicle rides, handles, and performs exactly how you want it to.

Choosing the Right Lift Kit

Picking the right lift isn’t just about inches—it’s about what works for your budget, your vehicle, and how you drive.

Cost matters, from the initial parts and labor to any long-term maintenance or upgrades. Maintenance is important too; bigger lifts often mean more wear on suspension components and steering parts.

And most importantly, consider your driving habits and expectations—whether you’re daily driving, towing, hitting trails, or doing serious off-roading, the lift should enhance performance, handling, and ride quality, not compromise it.

Choosing carefully ensures your vehicle looks great, drives well, and stays reliable for years to come.

Types of Lifts: Body vs. Suspension

There are two basic ways to lift a vehicle: body lifts and suspension lifts. Body lifts raise the vehicle by lifting the body off the frame, giving extra tire clearance without changing suspension geometry—often a cost-effective option for mild lifts. Suspension lifts, on the other hand, raise the entire suspension system, improving off-road articulation, handling and performance.

Within suspension lifts, there are two common approaches: spacer lifts and spring (coil or leaf) lifts. Spacer lifts simply add height above the existing springs, giving a modest lift with minimal cost but limited performance improvement. Spring lifts replace or modify the springs themselves, providing more height, better handling, and improved ride quality, but usually at a higher cost.

Another key distinction is leveling vs. full lift: a leveling kit corrects the front-to-back rake on trucks without significantly changing ride height, while a full lift raises the whole vehicle for larger tires and increased off-road capability. Understanding these options helps you choose a lift that fits your budget, driving style, and goals.

Built for How You Actually Use Your Vehicle

Not all suspension setups are created equal—and not all vehicles should be built the same.

Whether you’re daily driving, towing, or heading deep into the backcountry, the right suspension makes a night-and-day difference in how your vehicle handles, rides, and performs.

Why Suspension Matters

A properly built suspension isn’t just about looks—it affects:

  • Ride quality (on and off-road)
  • Handling and control
  • Tire wear
  • Towing stability
  • Overall vehicle safety

A poorly matched setup can lead to issues like rough ride, premature

wear, or even problems like death wobble.
